Scudder Associations’ Timeline

Two Organizations Became One and Are Now Returning to Two Separate Organizations

1911. The Scudder Memorial Association was formed to raise funds to build Scudder Memorial Hospital in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu, India.

1912. The Scudder Association of America was formed separately as a kinship and family history association.

1938. The Scudder Association of America merged with Scudder Memorial Association because the Scudder Memorial Hospital had been completed in 1928. The new combined organization became known as the Scudder Association, Inc.

2018. Scudder Association, Inc. changed its name to Scudder Association Foundation.

2026. To better align with current IRS regulations, the Scudder Association Foundation Board reluctantly voted to separate into two organizations:

Scudder History Association at scudder.org, a kinship and lineage society to continue the work of Scudder family history begun in 1912.
and Scudder Association Foundation at scudderfdn.org to focus on India charitable institutions begun by members of the Scudder family in 1911, then named the Scudder Memorial Association.

Although the two Scudder family organizations are now officially separate, Scudder family members may participate in both organizations, each now having their distinct purposes.
